TNI Contest: Win A Set Of MOC G.I.Joe Hall Of Heroes Figs
Rockshield replied to JayC's topic in G.I. Joe
G.I. Joe was a world I could escape to where none of the problems i grew up with could follow me, but it kept a sense of realism. It wasnt like the world of comic superheros that i could not relate to like the avengers or the xmen, because these were normal guys like me (albeit i was a rather young guy at the tme) who lived in the same world and had no special powers. They fought for good against evil no matter what and the good always won. It helped reassure in my mind as a kid growing up that no matter what, if i stuck to the good side, in the end I would always come out on top. -
ArashikageClan.com just posted new pictures of the upcoming Hall of Hero figures... new images released today... Link

This is a great topic for discussion.. because it is one that has left me scratching my head at times too. How can they confuse this stuff, right? The answer is that the correct placement of the tattoo is with the solid line or "bottom" of the hex closest to the wrist. This is the way both Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow's tattoos appear originally in the famous "Silent Interlude" where the symbol was first introduced into the Joe mythos. The trouble then is NOT that there is an alternate hexgram as you suggest, but that the artists are often confused as to what side is "up" on a man's forearm. Are we looking at the tattoo properly when the arm is down at your side, or with the wrist and hand pointing upwards? The correct answer according to Larry Hama, who actually drew issue 21, is with the hand down at the side. Try as I might... I cannot find the deadline or any other post for this round. Was there a thread that stated the deadline that was then taken down?

I'm thinking that they did not submit in time....

Quick Kick and Spirit--a two pack in the making?
Rockshield replied to Cthulhu5k's topic in G.I. Joe
Don't forget - Roadblock beat up Storm Shadow before it became an established rule that NO ONE CAN BEAT STORM SHADOW UNLESS IT'S SNAKE EYES. ( Or the Baroness. ) Tom This is also very true. The Storm Shadow who was captured through the combined efforts of the two joe strongmen, Gung Ho and Roadblock, was still a mystery to us then. It led Gung Ho to remark to Snake Eyes that he saw the same tattoo on the now-prisoner who beat him up as he just saw on Snake Eyes (only the second time we see the Arashikage hexagram on Snake Eyes). Snake Eyes makes a mysterious disappearence and its the second hint we are given that there is something that ties these two mysteriously clad men together. If this had been the Storm Shadow that developed only a few months later once his character was better revealed... Roadblock would have lost both his arms trying to drag away the Young Master. -

Well, its like this: Snake Eyes was never his rival in the comics or cartoons. The few times they had to square off, Snake Eyes proved far superior. Spirit and Storm Shadow would "tie" in the cartoon and find some means of "honoring" each other by ending the fight. Quick Kick in the cartoon always beat the snot out of Storm Shadow, which is SO way out of realm of the comics. In the comics, Quick Kick was killed by a SAW Viper, whilst Storm Shadow was one of the few whose' DNA ended up in Serpentor. Really the major issue is that the Storm Shadow in the cartoon was never a fully developed character like he was in the comics. In the cartoon they make him so honorable that it doesn't make sense to see him fight for cobra, but they never explain why he is.. but I think they hint at it once that his allegiance is only temporary. In the comics Storm Shadow's only true adversary is himself. He must overcome his own inner struggles and those are the only ones that ever best him. No one "beats" him in combat otherwise... save for the few scuffles with Snake Eyes and his sparring as a student back at the Arashikage Dojo. -

Quick Kick and Spirit--a two pack in the making?

They came WAY after Snake Eyes. What is funny about them however, is that they always made Storm Shadow run away or lose to Quick Kick and Spirit. Neither of them should have been able to hold a candle to him. In the comic Storm Shadow spent very little time as a "bad guy", but during that time he was set to face off against Gung Ho and Roadblock (together). Gung Ho ended up in the hospital, while Roadblock was the one at the end dragging an unconscious Storm Shadow back to the Joes camp. -

Congrats to the JBL team for making such a daring comeback over the past two days!!! nice work! -
Honestly, of all the variants of this Snake Eyes, there is only one that is worth significantly more than the rest: the Black Timber variant. None of the other variants really offer anything "special"; nor are any of the other variants really "rare". They are all "good". If you saving them for money, they are all going to fall into roughly the same price range, save for the Black Timber. The best one to OPEN, in my opinion, is the one hitting the shelves now. Modern Era card, corrected crotch, with backpack hole, and 2 pegs on the stand. This one has all of the features that you need, and will probably never be corrected again, and will probably be the least "scarce" or valuable of the rest. I hope that helps!
