How many yankees made the trip? JOhio is thinking about it.

I have my passport because of work. I've been to Toronto about a half dozen times for work, so I know I need it to fly. Right now, I've been told, to drive, all you need is a photo ID. What about a year from now? Will we need passports then? I am trying to get some info for my group.

To follow up for Yankee attendance: There were quite a few that I met and a lot of cars with New York, Michigan, and Ohio License plates in the parking lot. However, it was held at a hotel, and there was also a Ford Model T enthusist convention going on at the same time. So it's a little hard to gauge.

If you went next year, you wouldn't be the only American, that's for sure!

How was the dealer situation? Lots of stuff?

Lots of dealers, mostly selling old ARAH stuff. You would have done well completeing some of those vehicles. Some one had the Flagg for sale, it went for $400.00.

There was a fair amount of 25th aniversary stuff for sale. The newest were the TRU and target exclusives which were for sale at very inflated prices. Eg. Hiss tank $9.99 in a target store, $20.00 - $25.00 a pop at the con.

I believe June, 2009 will be the "passport required by car" date. As our Canadian conventions are always held in April, you should be good to go for 2009 without a passport, if you are driving up.

I know of at least 7 Americans that were at the show this year (not including Mr. Hama or Mr. Bellomo, that is)

A passport is never a bad thing to have anyway, I believe right now you need a driver's license and a birth certificate to get over the boarder in lieu of a passport. Since I don't know where my birth certificate is, a passport is the way to go for me.

Seriously thinking about making the trek down for some cons in the U.S.

Awesome. Thanks for the info guys!

Good to know. If I get posted to Kingston or Ottawa next year (I hope!), I'll definitely make the trip down.

We really need discounted air travel in Canada. There are carriers in Europe where you could make the equivalent trip for $50-100. Stupid Air Canada monopoly...

HA! Maybe so, but I would never want to pay what Europe pays for gas. HOLY COW! :o

It is 8 from Indy. A reasonable drive I think.

Yeah, 8 hrs or less I'd drive. not only for the cost but also time; not have to show up to the airport 3 hrs early, clear customs, wait for your lugage, etc. It's just easier to drive.

The only reason I know this for sure is because I made the trip down to the airport a couple of weeks ago.
