I give it a "B".

It sets out to do what MOTUC is about, and that's to create updated versions of the original figures, while still retaining the same feel. That said, it doesn't wow me enough to give it an "A".

I didn't preorder it, and I won't preorder it now. Part of it is the cost of this thing. It's just not worth $275.00 plus shipping to me. Second, I don't have the space to display it.

B. I think it was hyped to be more than what it turned out to be. The size is kind of irritating as is hearing about how all the plastic accessories are going to be hollowed out to use less plastic.

If I'm spending $300 on something, I want all the bells and whistles.

I'm keeping my pre-order, but I'm still a little disappointed.

I went with B, but kinda wish there was a B+ option. Its a bit small, but that doesn't really bother me all that much and I'm really digging the paint...I think it looks great.

The reaction so far seems to be a bit lukewarm, but still on the positive side. Cost and size (either too big to display or smaller than anticipated) also appear to be an issue.

My first reaction when I heard they were making the Castle was "Whoa, I must have it, regardless of cost." Then I really started thinking about how much this thing was really going to cost me. But it's a once in a lifetime item and I work over 50 hours a week so I decided that I deserve it. I'm still working out how to display it.

i'd give it a B. it looks fantastic, i just wish it was a little larger. seems very cramped. i know the original was cramped just the same, but this was the area i had hoped they would have addressed the most.

Call me crazy, but just reading the replies in this thread, the overall feeling I'm getting is that MOTUC might be done after this year. When people aren't even excited over a new Castle Grayskull, that's bad news.

Totally. Figures up to 40usd. Castle is to small. No figures on saleday. DR running wild every month now. Toyguru behaving like "you dont want it then dont buy it" nice way to attract clients, lol. No combine shipping is possible for early access. Yeah good luck motuc for 2014. cant wait for all the begging videos from toyguru "this is it guys, you have the power" lol

I think they're getting a very lukewarm response to something that we all expected to be overwhelmingly impressive. I honestly think they would have gotten all the "oos" and "aahs" they wanted if it would have been an inch taller. Most people have a problem with the castle being smaller than expected because it costs $250.

Honestly, I was really impressed with the castle when I saw the shot of Webstor climbing over the back.

...but when it panned to the front, and I saw how He-Man had to basically duck to get into the castle, I felt that wave of disappointment hit me.

And I don't think it's irrational to expect something you're paying ~$300 for to not get cost-cut on essential things like scale. I mean, realistically, we're paying close to 3 x what this thing would go for at retail, and all low production number hullabaloo aside, I think it's really scheissty that it got pared down as much as it did.

And since the scale isn't really great now, it's going to be an expensive backdrop for my collection, let me tell you.

First let me just say if someone doesn't want this I totally understand, but for those who have been complaining about price or scale, I feel your expectations were never very realistic. Not really talking about comments on this thread but comments I've been reading in the news section and around the net, people seem surprised this was not a true to 6" scale playset or that it should only cost around $150 for what we are getting.

It's true if this was a mass retail line like say Playmates TMNT, then this playset should in fact only cost around $150, but this isn't a mass retail line so comparing say the TMNT sewer playset with this is kind of like comparing apples and oranges. Anything for this line is going to be twice as expensive as something for a mass retail line would be, so if your going to collect this line or want anything like vehicles or playsets for it, I think you need to except that fact, and be prepared that it will cost twice as much, which DOSEN'T mean you get twice as much. It means your paying more to get the same thing you would get if it was at mass retail. If this was a true to scale playset with the MOTUC figures, the thing would likely cost in the $700-$1000 range. He-Man fits through the door, but anyone who thought Battlecat and He-Man where going to be able to ride through that castle door, is crazy.

Again I totally understand if someone can't afford $250-$300 for a playset, but some people I think need to come down to reality with their expectations on these things and quit getting upset when reality doesn't meet what they envision things should be.

This Castle Grayskull is exactly what I was expecting when it was first announced, and I think if you were to go back and search through older threads you would see where I said the likely hood was this would be a slightly scaled up version of the original castle to meet the size difference of the larger MOTUC figures, with some minor new sculpting and features added to make it a bit more modern looking by today's toy standards, but regardless some of you seemed to think we were getting some kind of 3D castle true to 6" scale deal which just isn't feasible. That's one of the drawbacks to larger scale figure line like MOTUC or Marvel Legends. If you want in scale vehicles and playsets then you need to stick with 3.75" scale lines. And as long as MOTU is a fan only collector line sold exclusively online you are going to have to expect to pay more than what you would with a normal line, but again that doesn't mean your going get more, it means you have to pay more to get the same thing you would have gotten for less at regular retail.

Sorry, Matty doesnt get to play rockstar and get off that easy. For me, its all about the service and attitude that has come with MOTUC and their whole online venture. I know its all been said before, but it still applies to Castle Grayskull.

Apples and oranges to some, but how can you not see something at Toy Fair like Hasbro's Metroplex and not be a lil disappointed to be a Masters fan? Sure Transformers is an ongoing thing, with a tv series running concurrant to help sell a toyline, but cant we say that Mattel has had the same opportunities now several times over with Masters (and totally blew it in 200X)? Mattel has sole control of Masters, most lines wish to be so lucky, and they still cant get their act together. You cant put a large, smug mascot and Scott Neichlich on the frontlines to pretend they are our buddy, that theyre here to do us all favors by allowing us to pay for what we want (especially when its not exactly as it was described).

I would be happier if they had dropped the sales pitches and put up photos on the websites of the products, with lil disclaimers like the backs of action figure cards( *product may vary in appearance in photo) to make sure their hands are clean.

Also, Castle Grayskull wasnt the only Toy Fair disappointment from Matty...for the 10 Ghostbusters fans that have already been dragged thru the mud with Matty, comes the Ecto goggles...for $110...no real details other than it will have some light and sound features...$110....how much more toy tech could the goggles have over the PKE to put it close to cost of a trap?!
