  1. Hey there... this is my first post here... but have been a lurker for quite a while.. I wanted to start off by saying that, as a long-time collector or Marvel Legends... with over 150 figures... I'm LOVIN what we are seeing for the future of this line... do i agree with every choice they have made..? No..! But they are the ones with their heads on the chopping block, not me... so they gotta do what they think is best for them, as well as fans. I think having the army builders is a VERY smart move... I know I'm gonna want at least 3-4 of each of em... just like my Hydras... so that is a great way to get repeat business from the same molds.. I just wish Valkyrie made the final Hulk cut... she would look good with my other Defenders... maybe she'll find another way out to market. But yeah, totally respecting others right to want / request toys like Ultimates... or Age of Apocalypse or some other 'non-core' marvel timeline... but I wanted to come firmly down in the camp of wanting NEW characters (ie, ones yet to be immortalised in legends) waaaaay before i'd ever even think of Ultimates or AoA ...maybe once we had all the main New Mutants, X-Force, Excalibur, Gen X-cetera, and associated baddies for em to battle... then fine... but while I'm still waiting for a Polaris, Dazzler, Callisto, Rictor, Shatter-star, Sunspot, Siryn, Sage... not to mention Marauders, Horsemen, Hellions, Brotherhood, MLF... oh and Stryfe, Exodus, Acolytes... then yeah I have absolutely NO INTEREST in Ultimates or any other side-line (I've been collecting marvel for 28 years now... and have no real fondness for these side-lines) Others might... and thats fine... I guess in the interest of equality... I wanted to cast my vote... Yeah sure... a box set of Ultimates... fine... then I can avoid it... but Ulti Wolvie, AoA Wolvie and Sabes just look totally wrong in my collection... i guess i'll give em away to some friends kids or something... but yeah, i'd be lying if I said there wasn't a slight tinge of resentment at having to buy these side-bars to complete the BAF's... its a bit rude I reckon... same with movie figures... that Jean and Beast were horrible... I do have other movie ones, but dont really display them... more kiddy-fodder methinks... Again, am happy for movie-lines... AoA lines, ultimates or what have you... so then I have a CHOICE about getting them... thats all I want.. the CHOICE... but when they are packed with BAFs, i get shirty... i feel i'm being taken advantage of... cos they are preying on the fact that they know I'm gonna want the BAF... My assessment of hasbro so far... is that they have had a shakey start... but with the transition, that should be expected... some of their choices may have been more based on their licence... than what fans have wanted... and the start of this year has been a snore... but I was piqued to see the NYCC stuff... a good variety... Spiral looks AWESOME cheers }T{
  2. I've been a lurker on these forums for a while... only just found out today about the new He-Man line... serves me right for not visiting he-man.org for a while... have been far too focussed on the new Marvel Legends.. But wow... I am totally over the moon... which i'm sure will subside to 'cautious optimism' shortly... but the signs and words coming from Mattel is music to my ears I remember a few years back, on he-man.org, mattel did some consultation with fans... so I sat down and wrote a very detailed (and polite and honest) critique of the 2002 Masters line, from my perspective as a long-time fan who grew up with the original series... I highlighted the poor articulation - esp compared to Marvel legends, which at the time, some had 40poa... where as MoTU only had 6-8... I also highlighted the case ratios being a problem, and that there were lotsa longtime fans such as myself out there that loved the original series, and now are in their 20's / 30's or so, and in a lot of cases have the disposable income to spend on this line... and that I didn't want 13 diff types of He-Man, but i DID want 13 diff villians for him to fight... and 13 heroes to help... etc, etc... I championed the cause of some of the obscure characters as equally as the main ones... as the obscure characters help embellish and add colour to the He-man 'universe' ...so yeah, i'm certainly NOT taking credit for this, that would be foolish... and i'm not making it up... what would that get me / why bother..? but I feel like Mattel listened to the fans... of which I am merely one... and that is THE BEST NEWS... a company that listens to its customers needs and wants, that tries to understand its customers / get inside their heads and understand their motivations and dreams... is a SMART one, and is likely to do well the fact they are making it for the collectors FIRST and the kiddies second is great (well, in my opinion)... cos we are the ones with the money... and a lot of us have kids and would love to share our childhood MoTU joys with our own young-uns... so praise be to Mattel for listening... keep ya ears open Mattel-dudes, and us collectors need to remain duty-bound to be open, honest and real in our comments / suggestions / input.... so they can make the right decision for them, and us... BTW, I'm not affiliated with any of the groups / companies mentioned... just a major fan from Downunder cheers }T{
