Mattel to sell Back to the Future Toys

Recommended Posts

If we are getting 6" figures similar to Ghostbusters this is awesome news.

Sadly, like the GB line, I forsee lots of variations of Marty and Doc which not lend itself to longevity for the line. Most people will be satisfied with a 'classic' Marty in his vest and a Doc in a white lab coat or something. After that, the demand for variants such as Marty in radiation suit, 1950s look, future Marty Jr., old west etc will drop. While there are probably collectors out there psyched to get some or all of those, I don't think the demand will be great. The same goes for Doc variations and to a lesser extent other characters. Are you really clamoring for a Prinicpal figure?

That being said, I'm excited to see these happen for however long they keep the line going. I've been wanting a Marty and Doc figure forever!!

And please oh please make a DeLorean that's inscale with the 6". Please oh please find a way to make it happen.

I wonder if there ever going to make an Ecto-1

Yes please!

There are lots of 'famous' vehicles that I would love in 1:12 scale.

General Lee, K.I.T.T., Magnum's Ferrari, etc

Also, after GB and BttF, what other famous movie franchises would you like to see Mattel tackle?

I hope that we can at least get two figures in a 4" scale- Marty and Doc Brown. These would be great to go with DST's light up Delorean. Other than that I'd be really happy with 6" figures. I'd get Principal Strickland too. The actor that played him was in the Masters of the Universe Movie so he could end up hanging out with Heman and the gang. They have a Cosmic Key coming with the subscription bonus figure for Master's too. How's that for a coincidence?

i cant wait to put doc right next to egon. these two will be best friends forever. great scott.

so ghostbusters has a corner around here, indiana jones has one. how about a back to the future corner? since their seems to come a lot from mattel in the next years, it could be cool to have everything together.

well i am happy about it. i understand do if people are against mattel. i see it that we will get a lot of variations. a company like neca just does one figure and then they are finished. they always leave the fans hanging around with barely to no answers. all i hope is that mattel brings the delorian for the 6 insh figs. the ghostbusters figs are realy great (except dan akroid). we get variants like courtroom peter? we are ready to believe you ray, thats awesome. i am not interested in them but they are awesome for fans who want them. even a toys r us box set with the ghostbusters two uniforms. so i think we are good with mattel and bttf.

the only thing i dont understand is mattel saying no to a dcuc batmobil or ecto-1 or a delorian. they say that there is no real demand for it. how do they know that? how can they know this when they havent even tried it out??? hasbro sells a 19insh galactus for crying out loud and it seems to do really well. i hear people all the time for a dcuc batmobil. the vehicules for motuc are on everyones wishlist. the ecto-1 is even more in demand. the delorian is a must. why do a line of timetravelers when they have no time machine? makes no sense.

The director Bob Zemekis claimed the hoverboards were from Mattel and they weren't releasing them because the parents groups didn't want them sold.So Mattel got lots of calls from people to release them

He made them sound like they actually existed

There was a tv special (also a bonus feature on the DVDs/Blu-Ray) hosted by Kirk Cameron talking about how hoverboards weren't real, but parents and kids thought they actually were. And there's not one but two Mattel logos on it for some reason, just inches apart. Considering those scenes took place in 2015, we're only 5 years away from Mattel making those a reality....right?

Also, I saw the anniversary BttF screening on Saturday, and it was awesome seeing on the big screen. There were kids there who had never seen it before, which was cool, and the theater manager was asking trivia questions before the show started. As a bonus, we got free posters for attending, and I finally found the miniMate DeLorean and black Hot Wheels DeLorean. Great Scott!

Dudes, has anyone played the Back To The Future Card Game by Looney Labs? It's absolutely incredible, because it's based on their already amazing time travel card game, Chrononauts! (The Looney Labs guys are the makers of Fluxx, btw.)

You lucky SOB

Is that the same one that lights up?

Yeah. They had a PartII version and a dirty PartIII version with the wooden stuff strapped to the hood and different wheels.

I got the PartII version because it was a more 'classic' look.

I was debating whether or not to splurge on it, but I knew if I left it on the shelf and never saw it again, it'd be one of those 'awww man I wish I wouldve bought that...' Moments.

I just saw the Part II version at Toys R Us. It looks more like the Part I version because it doesn't have the Mr. Fusion (at least, not that I can see in the package) and it doesn't have the 2015 license plate. I still want it though.
