Let's Just Talk Football

While I enjoy just talking sports, sometimes I just want to focus on Football. Ya know the ol' pigskin, not El Futbol Americano, but the Frozen Tundra, the Gridiron, America's true sport: Football. Be it College or NFL (and if all you have access to, the UFL), let's talk Football.

First things first, after last night the Cowboys are officially done. No Romo, no chance at the playoffs.

Will the streak end? Favre has two fractures in his ankle, but until I see someone else take the first snap Sunday, I don't beleive it is done.

Do you really want to see Boise State versus TCU in the national Championship game?

Right now, there are 7 true playoff teams in the AFC (Steelers, Ravens, Patriots, Jets, Colts, Titans, and Chiefs) and 2 in the NFC (Falcons and Giants). Who is going to make the playoffs and why?

well.. I am a bears fan... and they aren't the best team, but they should be 6-1 right now, that is a fact. they were cheated last week against Seattle on two different calls... and this week the refs straight up stole a TD from them when they said Jay Cutler fumbled at the 1 yard line. Our coach, Lovie Smith, is also a moron for not challenging the bad call. So if the refs would just get out of our way, we might actually be a decent team.

Other than that.. I fully expect the Packers and Vikings to turn things around and be pretty good.. along with the Eagles, Falcons, and Giants.

Playoffs:

AFC:

East - Jets

North - Ravens

South - Colts

West - Chargers

wild cards - Patriots, Steelers

NFC:

East - Giants

North - Packers

South - Falcons

West - Seahawks

Wildcards - Eagles, Saints

I think it is a long shot for the Chargers to get back in the hunt, but crazier things have happened.

long shot yes, and no. They are only 2 wins behind the Chiefs for the division. they lost both of their last 2 games by only 3 points. they have 5 home games left. they are getting Vincent Jackson back for the final stretch. and they have a really soft schedule going forward, with only 3 good teams left (Titans, Texans, Colts). I think the Chiefs will start fading soon. They lost all the games they played against decent teams, lose all their road games, and have been a bad team for a while.

Blasphemy!

The Chiefs have always been my favorite team, as I was a huge Derrick Thomas fan.

It's nice to seem them finally doing good again.

I still think Cassel sucks though.

As a Raider fan I hope you are right. Even though San Diego usually turns it up as the season goes on I am hoping Oakland has a chance especially with their division wins. I'd be much happier right now if Jano had not missed 3 field goals against Arizona and we were 4-3. These next 2 games (Seattle and KC) will have a huge impact.

If the Bears can pull it together after their bye week and win the next two games, then I'll be rooting for a good stance in the playoffs. If they lose either one, then I don't expect too much down the road.

Considering I live in Texas...Damn. Could the Cowboys be more pathetic? I've even heard talk about how it's a shame that they cannot forfeit their remaining games since they are so bad. Oh well. If they WERE winning, Jerry Jones would be sticking his face in the camera every 5 seconds as if to take credit for the wins.

UUUUUggghhhhh Vikings!

Three people need to leave in order for there to be any hope:

Randy Moss: Has done nothing since he came back (Looks like he's on the way out with his "I love you and I miss you, Patriots" speech). Good bye. Again.

Brad Childress: I gave him a pass for a long time. He has no idea how to utilize this team's talent.

Brett Favre: I'm sorry, I know it's tough, but you need to retire.

Maybe with any luck all three will be gone next year. Then we'll stand a good chance.

You know, I take it back. We should have KEPT Moss. Dumping him was a knee-jerk reaction to what was undoubtedly Moss' knee-jerk reaction to another Vikings loss. Give him a coach that takes no BS and he can be productive. Way to piss away a 3rd round draft pick.

UUUggghhh!

hey... I'll be more than happy if my Bears pull the trigger and try to get Moss.

things can only get better for our offense

I wouldn't be upset about that, but the Bears need some better offensive linemen. Having Randy Moss wouldn't mean d!<# if Cutler is always forced to throw passes off while laying on his back. The Giants exposed a serious weakness in Mike Martz playbook and we've been messed up ever since. The front line is weak. They either learn the dance or get some new fat boys up front.

Also I don't think Moss and Martz would get along. MM doesn't cater to egos.

Randy Moss to the Titans and Shawn Merriman to the Bills. The Titans haven't played the Texans or the Colts yet this season, this move could make a difference. Moss didn't fit in Minnesota because Favre doesn't fit in Minnesota. It seems to take him three quarters to warm up, while it does make for some exciting endings to the games that the defense manages to keep them in, I just feel that Bret needs to realize his best is behind him.

This weekend, we see TCU and Utah play for who gets to jump Boise State in the BCS rankings. Will any of this matter until we see the end of the Auburn/Alabama game? If Oregon wins out, who wold you rather see? The winner of Auburn/Alabama or Boise State/TCU/Utah?

yeah, I know we need better linemen. Hell, anybody that ever watched the Bears play the past few seasons knows that! They are a total joke.

But Moss would definitely be an upgrade at the receivers we have now. And he would cause double teams on every play, helping the other receivers actually get better. And I think that him and Cutler could have had an amazing deep threat combo. Plus, Moss might have actually tried hard for us just to piss off the Vikings... and we are still in it..

well, not anymore that we didn't even try to get him.

I honestly thought we would because the coaches and Angelo should be in desperation mode by now

I'm interrupting all of this Moss talk in favor of showing a video of a football player who actually had some class:

I miss watching the guy play. My eyes were always glued on him on defense...such a great talent and such a loss to football. :(

Amazing, it's week 8 and the Chiefs vs. the Raiders actually means something. Should be a good game sunday. How many points are the Packers going to lay on the Cowboys now that Jerry Jones has come out in support of Wade Phillips?

The Chiefs offensive play calling is so frustrating to watch today. They've only let Jamaal Charles carry the ball 5 times for 29 yards through the first 3 and a half quarters, yet they let Jones carry the ball 17 times for only 31 yards. Limit the number of carries Charles has and the Chiefs lose. He IS KC's offense. The dude had 177 yards last week, and you only let him carry the ball 5 friggin times so far this week? WTF?
