Recommended Posts

wow thanks mattel! not! so what now...too bad for us who didn't log in on time???

Didn't you read what they just said? Its very clear that Faker stands a likely chance

of being reissued, so relax, they had already stated that there would be a very limited

amount of Fakers from jump, did you actually believe that this exclusive wasn't going to sell out alot

faster.

Well, that old saying comes to mind.

You snooze! You loose! :D

But seriously, I've heard people complain that the line's gonna die down and it's not worth the effort and/or this and that. So far, it's going great and I betcha, these same people are kicking thier behinds by not getting into the MOTU wagon early on!

It's going great for scalpers, I guess...

I get up before work, and he's not on sale. I get home from work, and he's already gone. What am I supposed to do?

I go to Toys R Us, and they have one DCUC figure. I go back a week later, and they've restocked and sold out again. What am I supposed to do?

You do what you have to. Either you want the figures or you don't. Either it's worth it to you to do what it takes to get them or it isn't. No company will bend over backwards to make sure every single person that might decide he wants a figure has access to one.

Basically, you make sure that you're on the site and ready to buy as soon as the clock strikes 9 PST. If you have to work that day and can't work an evening shift, just partner up with a fellow collector and have him order for you. I think the 10 figure limit should be plenty for both of you. I have a friend in California who likes action figures and we've been picking up rare figures for each other from places like Target and Walmart for years.

I just love this line! With all the interest its generating with people, its made it easier and cheaper for me to get the 200X figures I needed to finish that line!

I figure in 5 years, when nobody cares about these figures, I'll get them real cheap, too!

Ah, great...another great figure I missed. That's, what, five now? Hmmm...what Mattel needs to do is set the limit at two, because, seriously who NEEDS four figures?!? You know darn well what at least two of the four figures folks are buyin' are gonna end up as...eBay fodder...yep, that's right. Just make more if the darn things are selling out...what's the big deal? Just release the darn things in stores too. It's hard to believe that Toys R Us wouldn't take them...just look at the the weird crap they sell. I can easily envision them pushing some of their Blue Dragon and Doctor Who figures to the side to make room for these apparently mega-popular collectibles. Sorry to whine, but I'm suffering from a lack of vitamin C...common sense (in regards to Mattel's decision making).

true that... they sell some garbage figures.. all those Neca and Mezco specialty figures that never seem to move, and are very expensive... Why wouldn't TRU give one of those pegs to MOTU figures... heck, they only have one peg for DCUC

Dude, are you for real? Just last Saturday, i.e. 3 days back, I purchased 200x Teela for $51, Evil-Lyn for $51, She-Ra for $56 and Zodac for $15 from E-Bay. And all these figures are 5 to 6 years old. So basically, in the next 5 years, the He-Man Classics line, which has never been released in any store, and which is being produced in ridiculously limited amount, will probably sell at $100 a piece. So best of luck in 5 years, pal.

I have never bought a single item on E-Bay and I haven't paid more than maybe thirty dollars for any of the figures! Last year I picked up some of the variant figures at the Pittsburgh Comic-Con for nothing...I think it was $15 a figure! The thing is, everybody has to have things now and five years down the road the demand just isn't there for 90% of the items currently "hot". You just have to have alittle patience and know where to look...

It probably helps that I know alot of collectors and have some good local contacts, too!

See, that's the thing. You have got great friends and contacts who would sell it to you at reasonable cost or maybe even trade with you. And fact that you are from the US makes everything available for you at regular stores. Whereas I am from India and nothing, AND I MEAN NOTHING releases over here. So everytime an Ebay user provides Worldwide shipping, there's a huge demand and the bidding price soars up immediately, because there a only few users who ship internationally.

As for MOTU Classics, the same thing will happen on Ebay in the next 5 years. Heck, it is happening right now! I had to save money to purchase MOTU Action Figures for months together. Also, for me shipping one item itself costs $25 to $35 (combined goes between $35 to $45), so I figured I would purchase 4 of them together to drastically save on shipping charges. But what do you know, by the time Stratos releases and I have enough money, everything sells out. So I had to purchase only He-Man and Skeletor which were auctioned off together for $86 on Ebay, plus $36 shipping. By the way, $1 is equal to Rs 51.45. So just think the amount I am spending to get these. Well, this year, I can probably get only Hordak and Teela and that too only from Ebay, at the year ending when again I would have saved enough money to purchase them. So for all the international buyers who are charged with exorbitant shipping charges, scalpers are going to have one hell of a business season for the next upcoming few years. But then again, are they really scalpers? Because the bidding does start at a very reasonable amount. It's customers like me who have limited option, and have to get them from mostly Ebay, keep bidding until the price soars.

So this is why Matty has to start the pre-order system for the entire year so that international users can save on shipping and also pay only when all the items are shipped together. Unless that happens, we all are screwed.

Sid's right-- a pre-order system would go a long way towards fixing the current situation. Though I don't suppose Matty would let us pick our months; it'd probably be the the rest of the line or nothing.

You know a pre-order plan wouldn't be a bad idea, they could limit the pre-order

amount to 1 or 2 figures and then after the figure officially debuts they can allow

ones to buy an additional 8 or 9 figures, that way everyone can have a fair shot

at getting at least one.
