Dear Mattel,

This is Bullsh*t. Not everyone can go to SDCC, especially now more than ever. Your basically telling me that because I line in NJ I can't have a Gleek. Mattycollector was a great idea for those who can't get the figures we want, and I have taken full advantage, including Giganta, the JLU Bat-villians and the DCUC 2-pack.

I am seriously considering dropping any and all Mattel altogether. I have always been a big supporter of your products, despite the problems with distribution and quality. And my thanks for being a fan, a nice swift kick in the Wonder Twins.

McFarlane screwed their fans over one too many times, and they are on their way out. Live and learn.

I think Wonder Twins are a superb choice of figures. Someone (I forgot who) said, here on these boards, that the line is called DC Universe Classics. It doesn't get much more classic than the Superfriends cartoon.

Lack of a monkey is depressing, though. Being a completist, I'll probably end up ordering it for some ridiculous amount...unless I make the show.

I am far beyond fed up with Mattel, idiots plain and simple. I hope they go under! Sh#t like this and especially because of the MOTU 2002/Staction Figure Line. This would have been a frickin sweet collectible to have, Gleek by far is the best sculpted figure, but the people in charge screw it all up again. And this makes sense, "we wanted to reward the people who actually come to the show", well as a collectible, dipsh#ts, I would want Gleek included in the box so I could display it that way, all of them together, not seperate in a f#cking plastic bag!! Mattel can kiss my @ss!!! And listen to the guy from New Jersey, not everyone can fly across the country to San Diego especially in these economic times!! Think about it @sshole! Wheres Christian Bale when you need him?!?

AMEN to that! Heres my biggest gripe about the whole thing. Mattel says they want to "reward people who come too the show", well Mattel should have found another way. mattel still does'nt GET IT! THEY ARE IN THE NEGATIVE WITH THEIR BIGGEST FANS. Now is not the time to treat us like F**kin dogs who have performed a trick correctly and are in need of being "rewarded"!!

I'M NOT THIS YEARS "BEST IN BREED"!! Mattel is way in the wrong on this one. They feed us broken toys and sloppy paint jobs. They produse figs in such poor numbers that we collectors are left to fend for our selves against bastared scalpers in the toy isles, and now that they FINIALY have an opertunity to make good on all the crap they've shoved down our throats......instead they pull this sh*t!

not cool Mattel.........not cool at all. @pow@

WooHoo! I just filled out my Pro registration online today, can't wait to get my hands on these. I guess it's time to start building my own Hall of Justice and Legion of Doom headquarters. Have to say the set looks better then I thought it was, so glad the included the bucket of water and eagle. Great choices in my opinion. I see both sides of the whole Gleek/No Gleek debate. Personally even though I live here in Cali so hitting up the Con is no biggie, think it does kind of suck (especially in something that is supposed to be a collectors line) that only those able to make it to the show can get everything, but on the plus side it is a minor character, if you can even really call him that, more of accessory in my opinion. (one I'm happy to get though) And have to say, this is the most jazzed I've been about and exclusive since Keldor (and to a lesser degree JLU Solomon Grundy) and think it's a great character choice for an exclusive, i.e. a popular character(s) but outside of the main DCU continuity. (Which I think along with really strong supporting cast characters like Alfred or Commissioner Gordon, or one I'd really love to see a two pack Jor-El and Laura with baby Kal-El in his rocket, make the best exclusives) And before everybody hits me up with PM's for me to pick them up some, I have to look out for my non-online friends here first (some of which got laid off recently so don't think they'll be going) but will be picking up extra ones (also depending on what the limit ends up being) and probably getting He-Ro as well, and what ever I'll have left over I'll throw up a post here for some things I am looking for in trade like few of Marvel Legends figures and DCUC figures too. Can't wait to activate my Wonder Twin powers! :D

Wonder Twins are probably only more familiar to those who grew up watching Superfriends on Sat mornings in the 80's. Believe it or not there is probably a whole generation out there that has never heard of them or seen the old Superfriends cartoons. Aquaman and Captain Marvel have both been in more recent cartoon series and the comics so im guessing they are probably more well known with younger people.

Well, I agree that they're probably not known at all among kids...what I meant was that a lot of people have never read the comics at all. So their only exposure to the DC universe is through other forms of media, and the Superfriends was a fairly iconic representation that's been parodied several times in pop culture. I grew up in the late 80s and never really watched the cartoon, but I still know the Superfriends just like I know the Adam West Batman show. There have been Wonder Twin parodies in particular on Scrubs, Family Guy, Spongebob Squarepants, Harvey Birdman, Penny Arcade, and many other places.

Maybe Aquaman was a little too high-profile, but I really do think that in general about as many people would know the Superfriends vs. Captain Marvel/Shazam. Certainly more than other characters we've gotten in this line and similar lines like Marvel Legends. I definitely think more people know who the Wonder Twins are vs who Maria Hill or Sharon Carter are.

RE: the monkey. I don't care whether he was comic relief or not. First of all, he's a monkey, so he's automatically cool. Second, he's a brand-new sculpt(and a really good one at that), so he's more interesting to me than the other two, which just have new heads. Third, unless I missed something, he's a character who's never been made in action figure form.

So, Mattel is basically sculpting a completely new figure of a never-before made character and saying that nobody can have it unless they happen to be in one city on one weekend. It would be like Toy Biz making Howard the Duck a con exclusive. Hasbro makes their con exclusives available online, even when they're just alternate costumes like She-Hulk or Destro. So it's just frustrating that I'm forced to turn to Ebay to get a new figure I want.

I don't want them to go out of business, I don't wish death on their families, I'm just annoyed with the company, and not for the first time.

Well said i think. I think that sums up alot of our mind sets. Alot of us can't just pick up and drive half way across the country to this con. But love gleek so I don't see why they at least couldn't offer gleek on the Matty.com for a limited time like they do the he man figures. or till they just sold out. I mean damn Thats what matty.com it suppoed to be for.

And they keep trying to hype you matty.com but what do they really sell on there other than he man figures that you can never get. Wow thats so awsome. I mean God there is such a smarter way to do business to make every one content

ah must be that time of year, when people start to complain about exclusives at sdcc.....happens every year :-)

If they had to do something like a polybagged Gleek they should do something like DST did with the Star Trek SDCC exclusives when it came to a bonus polybagged figure. You bought all the TWoK characters you got Genesis Khan. You bought all the Mirror Mirror figures you got Marlena. Online retailers who had the figures also had this offer afterwards.

They could even do like Kenner did with the Super Powers Clark Kent where you would send a certain number of proofs of purchases with a shipping fee.

Id say be patient...they are not going to say how many gleeks were produced. You figure they have x amount set aside for the con, and the way i see it the more we complain about it the more the sclapers are going to get wind oof it and snag them all up.

Mattel might have some set aside for when they go onsale on Matty.com so i say patience.

But if one of the old schoolers going to the con wants to help out a fellow old schooler youd make Batman happy!

yes it does.

the whole Silver and Golden ages?

and besides that "CLASSICS" doesn't mean a thing.

what's classic about the Sinestro Corps?

Alan Scott, Jay Garrick, Wally West, Poison Ivy, Ra's al Ghul, John Stewart, Talia, Mirror Master, The Trickster, Capt. Boomerang, Mary Marvel, Dr. Sivana, Ocean Master, Plastic Man, Elongated Man, Zatanna.

WIth names like that I can see how Mattel could pass over them to make a "classic" Wonder Twins set. I don't collect DCUC anymore but if I still did they could put a whole zoo in this set and I wouldn't touch it.

A buddy just informed me that he will be going to SDCC and going by the Mattel booth for the Ghostbuster exclusive. He don't do DCUC so he will be getting me a Zen, Jaina and Gleek. I'm pumped.

I'm utterly uninterested in the Wonder Twins issue. People should be glad they're getting the twins at all, even if it is without Gleek. I did eventually get Keldor, but I never got She-Ra...

The Ghostbuster exclusive on the other hand, is a big PASS. They said they're doing a non-slimed version later that will have a PKE meter. That's two advantages over the SDCC version. I don't care if the later version doesn't have Slimer because I still have my NECA Slimer and the Mattel Slimer looks terrible by comparison.
