Is this really the new HISS tank?!?

Even as a RAH collector going back to '84, I have to say I'm glad to see classics getting an update with the POC line. Recondo, Zartan, the HISS, the new 4 seater VAMP. Maintains the original idea, but brings it into a more modern era. I only wish they had done better with the Night Raven.

I like this new HISS. Keep in mind, that in all these pics, the HISS is in it's "pop-up" mode. It lowers and sits more like a real tank as well.

Nope! Don't like it...don't like it AT ALL! @grumpy@

Looks like they took an unused reject one man space ship design and put some treads on it and are calling it a HISS TANK.

They're still swinging strikes on the vehicle side of things.

Yes it is as said above, at first I did not like it thinking it was to sleak and thin and wirey.... you get the point. But its suppose to be a HISS, which are not suppose to be large tanks. I read a great explanation on it at Hisstank ironocally I think and its grown on me ever since. Might buy one now!

Personally I think they look awesome! Functional tank treads is a big plus to me and they look deadly when they're 'squating'. I'm getting at least four of them.

I was sick to death of the old HISS tank mold being used over and over I liked the look of the DTC tank way better, but thought it still needed improvements:

This new one is so much more!

I really like it, though I will only display it in "compressed" mode. I understand the idea of the pop-up part, but it does look a little goofy. When the chassis is counter-sunk between the treads though, I think it look quite cool. As for imaginary tactical ability, as much as I LOVED the vintage HISS, it was a ridiculous design. All Joe had to do was build a 5 foot high berm around the base and the HISS would never be able to cross it due to it's "chin" sticking out so far.

I don't care for that HISS. I won't be buying it. I do like the VAMP type vehicle that I have seen posted alongside this one, though.

Looks like the Terminator Salvation HK vehicle, stuck on top of some treads.

I think the HISS II and the DTC version are still the best of the HISS tanks. This one is still in production apparently, but from these prototype images, I'm not impressed with it...yet. :)

Hey, that one looks good! I see some resemblance there, but just not quite the same monstrosity as what the prototype is looking like?

It looks like the treads work (rather than wheels). It is pretty funky looking but maybe it will be better "in hand".

4 seater VAMP? Never heard of it till now, but I think I'd rather have an updated Desert Fox.

Gimmicks are ok if in moderation. I think the main thing to exclude is any sound effects/electronics.

I think the new toy looks very similar to this design of the HISS when it's 'squating'. That could be just me though.

Dude this one here is sweet

That new one is horrible

Thanks man, I've been meaning to put together another three or four, I have all the parts I just need to actually do it.

If you think of it like a HISS Scout, it's not such a bad little vehicle.

I will buy it, but not as a "replacement" for my originals - more of a complement. I mean, the HISS is supposed to be a lightly armoured, high speed little vehicle anyway, not a heavy tank by any means. For me, it works.

I prefer it in "squatting" mode but the concept of the turret/cockpit raising is actually pretty sound. There are actual military vehicle prototypes and even some that have gone into production that have used this concept in the past.

Yeah, it actually looks a lot like the helicopter from the Rhino. In fact, I think the prototype used that for the cockpit.

It carries ONE figure...the driver? At least the original had room for a driver, a gunner and pegs on the back end to carry a couple of extra troops. The HISS II even added more troop carrying potential along with an added co-pilot and that was awesome. Ain't a whole helluva lot of tank type vehicles ever coming out for COBRA, so if the HISS is all they're giving us, I'd like to keep with some troop carrying power and features. The remote thing is kinda boring to me (in concept) and this new one looks just like that....a remote version.

And that's why i like it. If cobra invented BATS why can't the afford sleek vehicles that require less operators?

I do like the game/resolute design better though.

The new VAMP is even better, for once I actually want a vehicle for the vehicle and not hte driver. That said it will probably cost 25$ and i'll pass.

Yes only one driver no gunner. The Mobat had one driver. I'm OK with it. I hate guys just hanging off the back of something.

To quote cracked's the 20 stupidest G.I. Joe vehicles ever list:

"a whole bunch of guys hanging off the back of nearly every god damned vehicle. I don't know why – nowhere in the Joe canon does it specify why they've taken their design cues from a Central American public transit system"

I did like the HISS II's capacity for carrying troops inside the thing, but this is supposed to be an assault vehicle not a transport. I still think this is the best HISS I've ever seen.
