The Collector Club Updates Us On The G.I.Joe Figure Subscription Service

So it would appear you will need to join the Officer Level Membership of the Collector Club which for those in the US looks to cost $42. Then you have to pay on top of that the subscription service and figures are said to cost in the neighborhood of $25 each. So do you think it will be worth the money????

Short answer to that question, JayC: Nope.

Basically, an SDCC exclusive figure would be cheaper than these once you figure in all the additional fees and memberships.

i 2nd that its not worth all that money for right now 2 crappy repaints. before i join i need pics of all the figs to even see if its worth it. cuse right now its def not worth it.

I was all ready to sign up for the Sub Club, but now I'm not so sure. Adding another $42 to order the Sub figures, especially when we don't know how much the subs going to cost. Guess I'm really going to have to think hard about this now.

Wow, and people thought Mattel's subscription had problems. Hasbro seem's to have done them one better. Now you have to pay them for the "priveledge" of buying an over-priced figure. Unless they drop the mandatory Officer level membership this will be dead in it's tracks.

I was very interested but don't plan on paying $63.00 (Canadian Membership) before I even order my fist figure.

This is not Hasbros doing, its all on the collector club. Its totally seperate from Hasbro, their the "official" club but really hasbro seems to have very little to do with things. Being a member isnt a big deal for someone like me, im already a member, but that is a crappy rule to join this. My biggest gripe with the collectors club is the same problem ive had for years, they are all about max money for things. Add to this the fact that I have very little faith in them for producing items (the tanks still eat at me), im more than a little leery of paying anything upfront. The long standing rumor is that this will be a pay upfront service. Im a long time member of the club and I feel this way, I worry that this wont have the support they think.

sheesh... I must be an officer level member to even have a chance for the subscription?

I'm out!

and I thought they were going to sell the figures individually as well? otherwise, why offer the free 13th figure as an incentive?

I am guessing each figure will cost 25 bucks, making the whole thing cost 300 bucks. Since that is kinda what they do with their convention sets..

oh well.. there is no way I am signing up for a subscription. If they offer them individually, I might go for some if they are must-haves for me

This is what I was fearing, I knew the Joe Club was going to mark this way up. I also had a feeling that you would have to be a paying member to get the subscription. I'm definitly not doing it if they don't release what figures they have lined up. Honestly, if they don't reveal who is coming down the line I have a feeling they themselves are not too excited to show everyone what they will be getting.

I think they're hesitant to release the names of all 12 figures because they know people won't get the subscription once they see the line-up of craptastic re-paints they probably have coming.

Instead they will play it up......"Don't miss out on these great exclusive figures!" type thing. Playing on our fear as collectors that we "can't miss out" and will fork over the money for figures we "kinda want".

I am not accusing the club of "running" the price up on these. I am sure at best these would have very small distribution runs which means they are more expensive to make and they may even have to pay some kind of licensing fee to Hasbro for selling them and of course they are a business and need to be able to make some profit from them. I can also understand from the business side of wanting to try and make this as an incentive to join the club (though I think it would be smarter to offer the subscription to both club and non-club members and then give club members either a bonus figure or a discount or something). But in the end regardless of whether or not the cost is justified or not I think you just get to the point were you've priced yourself out of the market. Especially in today's economy I would be hard pressed to come up with $25 a figure even if it was figures I really wanted. I know some people would probably pony up the money if it meant they could get a roadpig or Billy or something like that, but enough people to really support this as a profitable business??? I just don't see it.

Right now I can't justify paying 50 bucks for Quarrel and a NANO-BAT........no way would I ever do that. But if they were like "The January figures are Big Lob and Pythona"....and "February is Cobra Mortal and Mutt as Cobra Trooper" it would be easier for me to open my wallet. I'm just throwing names out there.......no one specific. They don't have to be AWESOME figures every month but its gonna take something more than the first 2 figures they showed for that price. They're nuts to not release the list......I think they are doing it on purpose (if they don't release it) because they aren't confident in the line-up they have.

so on top of the club fee and sub fee is it another $50 a month? There are supposed to be 2 figures a month for 6 months for a total of 12 figures right?

I think the figures are rumored to be around 25 dollars a piece.....and if they are 2 a month...thats 50 bucks a month. Unless its one figure a month?? I need to read the article again....

WOW I just heard Pixel Dan talk about this sub

I understand the Officer level thing because I am part of the transformers fan club which is exactly the same as the Joe club but to pay more for the sub on top of that and pay $25 per figure and they are 3 and 3/4 inch?

Hell I thought the MOTUC sub was not fair but this one is the worst

And thats if you only get one figure...I always get 2 figures when I collect.

I just think I'll have to pass on these.

Even if they offered a couple of figures I really wanted, I wouldn't do it, just based on the two figures we've already been shown. Why pay for all of the other figures I DON'T want, and pay for a membership I don't want, just for a few figures I might want?

I really don't see how they expect this offer to be successful...

I reckon this is bang on the money.

I'm really hoping for a Baron Ironblood, but that might be asking too much.
