Masters Of The Universe Classics Update

The only new info here is that Skeletor won't be available until January, thus pushing every 2009 figure back a month. ToyGuru/Matty had said they'd try to release Skeletor in December as well, but it looks like that won't happen, which is a good thing in my mind. It's unfortunate that we'll end up with one less figure in 2009 than originally planned, though. When originally announced, we would have had 12 in 2009, plus He-Man, Beast Man, and Skeletor from the last three months of 2008 (and King Grayskull).

These figures are so amazing, I will buy them all. THIS is how classic toys should be remade. True to their classic looks, but updated quality. All companies should take note.

I agree with Mako - I think these figs look great (well, as great as DCUC), but I see no reason for the huge $20 price tag. I am assuming they will hence be produced in somewhat limited quantities, seeing as how they are only available through that website, so get ready for the 'Sold Out" and "Out of Stock" labels to be pretty frequent. (Kinda like HTS) I am really disappointed in the price tag, though. Maybe by the time they actually are ready, Mattel will have heard enough of that and put them at a more realistic (affordable? competative?) level. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'm excited about this! While I'll probably pass on most of them, I can't wait to get Heman and Skeletor. The price is kind of high though, thus why I am going to pass on most, but me from 20 years ago will never forgive present me if I pass on this childhood gem. Now, if only we could get some updated Thundercats...

I'd love the T-Cats, too, if they were done in the same DCUC style as Masters and were affordable. I'd like to be able to display them all together without having it look off, like when Mego had the licsences for both Marvel and DC so you could interact them.

Well, I now know what link I should forward to my wife under "Christmas shopping ideas"... I wonder if they'll have H-man and Beasty up in time to make a Christmas shipping deadline. Those guys would totally make me question the age-old 'Existence of Santa Claus' question! Meanwhile, Skelly can wait for by birthday, since Classics He-man will have plenty of 200X guys to kick around until then. :)

The price only sounds bad. It does taste bitter putting $20.00 into a figure but if you factor in gas money to go to whatever store you would have to hit to find these, the fact that your not promised to find them the first time you go due to scalping, non orders by the store and so on, and then add in the price of the toy which these days a toy this scal starts at the low low price of over 10 bucks. $20.00 online as long as supplies last shipped to your door by ups or usps with a shipping price of less than 2 gallons of gas?

That is a pretty good deal to me. I am getting the lot..till they get to ones i just don't like. Love the classic head add in but not killing myself to get both versions;)

That's odd. One version of Merman is the kitty-faced version much like the original release, and the other one looks more like the 4H 200X Merman - based upon the early prototypes. I wonder which will actually be released.

Either way, I just can't unload 20 bucks a pop on these guys. Sorry Mattel. Had they been a continuation of the 200X line with better articulation and paint? then maybe.

$28.00 shipped sounds like a good deal to you? Your high. When Hasbro did the direct to consumer line of figures for gijoe they didn't blatantly gouge us on the price of individual figures. This is blatant gouging, and although I want the figures, I'm not paying those prices. If the line dies because of their prices, so be it, they need to be shown that type of money for a single figure is unacceptable.

Mer-Man will come with two interchangeable heads, as will certain other figures.

Man-At-Arms, though unannounced and not shown yet, is rumored to be another with two heads: with and without a mustache.

i dont have a problem with the price because most figures in europe are around 15 and 20 euro and when i can buy a star wars figure for 15 euro then i can buy a he-man figure, who buy the way is twice as high and better painted for 25 euro with delivery.

and i have to say if the figs look like they do on the pictures then i think they are better painted then the dcuc. this still has to be seen do.

i will not get this line because i dont wanna start again. 12 figs a year is to low for me because if they dont sell then i am stuck with 12 figures and it will be, just like the 200x again. i wanna complete my masters collections for once. i will get some figures to add to my 200x collection. like charakters i havent seen yet on plastic.

another thing. skeletor seems to be huge and beastman seems to be small. i mean what happend there? havent they evolved in time or what? i get all the classic theme and i love it but the lost me on the scale. beastman should be huge and not the other way around. stratos is even smaller then beastman. i hate that. i want some scale differences here.

i will get he-man and skeletor for sure, then i will see how they are.

Warner Bros is inexplicably sitting on every Thundercats related license. Because my employer is a BOOB.

Maybe they are waiting for a lull in the coolness of what all is being offered these days. What with the MOTUC, DCUC, new G I Joes, etc, there's a lot going on. That also explains why I can't agree with the MOTU price tag. Too much out there to spend a limited amount of scratch on. Maybe things will cool down, and then the prices will come down and new lines like T-Cats will find their way out.

I think that maybe they are waiting for something to spark peoples interest in TC again. With talks of the new MOTU movie, and the fan loyalty following the 200x MOTU re-launch, I can understand why Mattel would squeeze more life out of Eternia. If TC ever makes that movie (ha ha) I think maybe, there would be something in the mix, probably similar to the MOTU relaunch with more modernized characters. Even then, I don't know if I want an "X-Treme" Lion-O or something like that. Maybe WB is just sitting and waiting to see if this MOTUC line sinks or swims before they put anything forward...

Beastman and Stratos are the same size as everyone else--6 inches. They are just posed crouching. The 4H or Toyguru told the fans on He-Man.org this.

I love the line, and $20 is really not that bad. I'm not high either, just think about it, how much do u spend a month on toy u want or ps3/xbox360 games, video games are like $60, but as soon as u play it and try to trade it, its like $20. At least with a toy line, u have the chance for a figure to go up in value, or if your an opener like me, I dont care about the value, I open everything. Some of you guy that think the price is high, do u guys go to college, or are u on a tight budget. Just about any think u buy now a days is about $10 or more, and any person thats an army builder, I know u can't complain about the price.

I look at it this way - for $20, I can get (still) 2 DCUC or ML figs, which seem to be the same general size as these figs. I generally do not go out of my way to pick up toys, mostly stopping off at a store that is on my way to wherever, so gas use is negligible. Now if these guys came with a 'build-a-Grayskull' giant piece or something, that would be different, but as far as I can tell, it's basically just the same as other lines, but a whole lot more. My 'wheat' side just tells me it isn't worth itregardless of how much my 'sugar' side drools over them. If I won the lottery, it would be a different story, though I would like to think I would still realize the gouge in the price.

I'm going to give my 2 cents here

These could of been released to stores but possibly with them ending the 2002 line they possibly got a backlash and the stores won't carry them now

I would of loved to had them

I'm not ordering these online since its hard for me to keep money aside becuse of the bills

I gotta say I'm not too sure about this either. I saw Neca's Beetlejuice* figure at Spencer's the other day and at $17 I passed without question but would have swooped it up without a doubt for $9.99. I'm a bigger fan of He-Man than Beetlejuice but still... $28 for one figure is too much. I'm all for buying toys online... but if I'm going to pay $30 for one figure the paint application better be amazing and it better not break because I don't want to deal with return shipping.

I don't see how they will be able to do an entire series at that price rate and if they're going to give up on the line two years down the road and not finish the line off right I'd rather not get started up with it again. They did this with the previous He-man line. I think they were on the right track when they were talking about taking those statues the 4 horsemen did and turning those into action figures...

Maybe this would have worked in 5+ years from now when we still didn't have shelves of the 200x He-man collection on displays in our houses... Adding what has been shown to my current collection does not appeal to me, they don't mix in well in my opinion. They look like cool figures... but I think I'm leaning on NO Thanks when I think it through.

As easy as it is to buy figures online, I feared that the internet would do this to our hobby.

Because of purchasing online retail stores are less likely to have stuff we want. Part of the reason I like to collect is go and see the stuff on hand before buying them. Mainly because paint apps are sometimes awful.

I hope Mattel decides down the line to make these available to us at retail like Hasbro did with the Gi Joe DTC line.

I think Mattel probably wanted to have these at retail, but retailers probably balked at the idea for numerous reasons.

I hope the line survives long enough and/or does well enough that brick and mortar stores decide to carry these.
