  1. There is only a couple of times I ever heard about somebody changing..Years ago Boy George and another band member had a fling but he left George a few years later and married a woman and they had kids The same thing happened on the lesbian side Ellen DeGeneres's old girlfreind married a man and had kids I don't think they were "cured" I think they were Bi Boy George did originally have a girlfriend before becoming famous, the drummer was John Moss and yes once he left the band he was straight from there on out. It can happen and it does, I don't believe a person is naturally bi, just confused and unresolved. There was a guy on the Howard Stern show who says he was cured and now goes around helping others, it can and does happen, there is a CURE!!!
  2. DUDE, I LOVE KIDS IN THE HALL..................I don't think DC would ever go that far, doesn't make a difference who it is, I am sooooo not interested whatsoever.
  3. Most not all straight males like girl/girl I don't know of a straight guy who wants to see two men kiss.I have nothing against gays but I don't want to see them kiss even if it was drawn Isn't that the problem though? Comic books are mostly made by men for male readers. Having Wonder Woman a lesbian doesn't help people embrace and acknowledge the alternative lifestyle. Rather, it straightens the stereotype of strong women portrayed in the media. It also doesn't help give inspiration to gay male comic readers - other than being a PR stunt, having more diverse characters help diverse individuals relate to them, hence giving them inspiration. The Blue Ear article is a good example of this - this is the main reason why I would love to see more diverse characters in comics. While it may be the majority, Not everyone who read comics are heterosexual white men. Why would a straight man embrace the gay lifestyle? There are people out there that don't feel comfortable with that. Why should it be pushed onto them? What will happen is they possibly will give up on the book if they don't like what they are seeing Let's face it. A straight man is not going to be able to relate to the romantic feelings of a gay man anymore than a gay man can relate to the romantic feelings of a straight man (feel free to swap out woman in that sentence, too). It's the way we're born and a matter of genetics. One of my friends who came out in college had trouble embracing the lifestyle, though his fear stemmed from persecution. He fought and fought and fought his feelings, even dated my ex, a female, AFTER coming out, but it didn't work. He is what he is. He was banned by the church, ostracized by his friends, and now a staunch atheist. DC is taking a risk here because I know there are many people that know little about, care little about, or uncomfortable with anyone who is gay and certainly don't want to see it invade their favorite shows, movies, and comics. And WE (that's all of us) will let them know our feelings on the subject with our purchase. Being 100% honest as a straight man that's not uncomfortable around members of the LGBT community, I'm not going to buy a new comic because it features and openly gay character. I'm also your typical fan of the big characters (Batman, Superman, Flash, GL) who rarely ventures from the usual unless really, really compelled. I'm interested in seeing what happens. I feel this might hurt DC unless they create a very compelling story and character. There are people like me who might skip out just because I usually do with any character I don't usually read, and there are people who will skip out because they don't want to read about a gay character. The variable is how many people from the LGBT community will start reading because of this. We'll see. See that is where I disagree, it isn't genetics but behavioral and it can be cured. I know many people are going to be in an uproar and say it isn't something to be cured but I believe it is, sort of like bad behavior. God knew what he was doing when he saw Adam and said man should not be alone and created a female. True romantic feelings can never be the same between the same. Men have something to offer that women to do not and the difference makes the perfect piece of the puzzle, men and women compliment each other in ever natural way possible, it is written in nature and it is written in the laws of God directly to man. As for your friend, more people should of tried to help him rather than banning him, there are places where men/women are cured and don't ever look back. The average man just cannot relate in this manner and I don't see anything wrong with that. This is just like how in Superman Returns, Bryan Singer who is rumored to be __ had them design a rather ___ inspired outfit. That outfit was a complete turn-off for many, including myself and the backlash was extreme making the movie a failure. We cannot relate on that level and it messes us up, if Arnold was ___ could you of watched Terminator or the Running Man the same, for some reason the two don't mix. DC has made a series of mistakes in the past couple of years, starting with Grant Morrison to this situation, I still love the characters especially Superman but it isn't the same for me anymore. Whoever is running the boat over there is an utter moron. I agree with everything that you said. I did see some of the "influence" on the costume of "Singerman", with how he was given what looked like almost a thong, instead of his trunks. But it could have been a lot worse, it could have been this... Heaven forbid If Superman is ever "converted", his fortress will be based somewhere on Christopher Street. The title "Man of Steel" will only indicate that he and John Henry Irons have probably been an item... Oh the influence was there, I am being very charitable about how I feel about it, but UGH.........tiny S, flat streamline stomach, tiny briefs, short boots, high neck very metrosexual.
  4. Something DC has proven incapable of with 99% of its characters! Marvel has more non-hit movies than hit movies, plus many of their hit movies don't stand the test of time.........Spider 1 and 2 anyone? Also, in the last 12 years, Marvel was at least invested enough to get its characters on the big screen a whopping thirty times! DC? Somewhere under ten. But don't worry, I'll say it: :OT: I am not one who gets bent out of shape about going off topic.........that is the natural way of conversation, but there are some people here who are like the Nazi party and want certain control over the boards, like controlling going off topic???? Marvel has invested more but most were not successful, that is what gangsters do, they shoot up a neighborhood and hope to hit the target. Aside from Ironman 1 and the second Hulk movie, most Marvel films fall extremely flat, none of them can rival even the first two original Superman movies let alone the Dark Knight and Watchmen movies.

  7. HBO back in the early to mid 80's. I remember when I saw Return of the Jedi and that year for Christmas my Dad got me the Imperial Shuttle....he said it was Darth Vader's ship and my cousin got me Darth Vader. That was a very special Christmas that I will always remember.
  8. He looks fantastic, can't wait for mine!
  9. Just because people focus on one sin over another does not discredit the other sin........hope that makes sense.........You say you are a pastor then you should know what the bible says clearly about it and there is no getting around it. Every sin should be offensive including this one. In this world people fight for beliefs and those who support marriage in the way God intends it should be valored in their efforts. I think you made a good point about how people judge one sin over another but at the same time those who believe in the values of God fight for them, of course I don't mean in the way of attacking and hurting but through education and effort. Yes many of them are hurting and it is up to us to share them love and compassion but also with an intent at rehabilitation (another idea that gets downplayed but is a reality) to edify each other. Jesus preached on this type of hyprocisy that you mentioned and it should be noted along with the idea that believers do find something wrong with that particular lifestyle. I respect your views, but the Bible also clearly states that we can have slaves from other countries, it's an 'abomination' (same Hebrew word associated with homosexuality) to eat shellfish, and we should kill rape victims. However, I see no one preaching on how we should picket Red Lobster. My honest words of wisdom to anyone interested in or a part of the Christian faith is that the Bible 'clearly states' very few things, such as that God is love, we are called to forgive and not judge, and that salvation for ALL PEOPLES comes through Christ. Homosexuality is not mentioned often in the Bible and never by Christ. Plus, homosexuality during the writing of the Bible was never understood as a loving relationship between a man/man or a woman/woman, but as the rich and powerful who owned boy slaves for sexual purposes. The question I ask myself all the time is why are there certain things in scripture 'we' bypass and others 'we' deem important. I have come a long way in my views on homosexuality, from completely against it, to focusing on loving the 'sinner', to recognizing that my own sin prevents me from truly judging what sin is. That's God's work and the work of the Holy Spirit. And I came to this point of view, not by the liberal media or a gay agenda, but from reading the scriptures, understanding their histories, and realizing how powerful Christ's love truly is. But let me take a step back, because, at the end of the day, we are on a toy message board discussing comic books and this conversation, though somewhat relatable, is not the purpose of this board. The real question is why should something like homosexuality be devoid of our comic books or why can't an a lister turn out to be gay? Everyone's agendas and money making schemes aside, comics reach to a secular and religious world with varying beliefs and cultures. Where one can argue that they read comics for escapism and don't want to deal with issues such as homosexuality, a member of the LGBT community could find a strong gay or lesbian character in comics a way for them to have escapism from the persecutions of society they experience. Why should we neglect people of that? Glad you mentioned the "slaves" thing as well. When the bible mentions slaves there are multiple meanings for that word. There were slaves who were treated inproper as ownership of another like what we experienced here in America and abroad hundreds of years ago, but also a man could be a slave in service without negative treatment, almost like hired help. If you owe someone you could sell yourself to them as slaves to work off your debt, that is a different slave from the negative idea associated with the word. We have to rightly divide what the bible is saying because things mean things differently. Also you mentioned the whole shelfish thing, in the bible depending on what you believe certain practices and beliefs were resolved when Jesus died on the cross, shellfish and those others were........the issue at hand still stands as a practice that is unlawful to the Lord, plain and simple. Sure it doesn't give us the right to condemn for reasons you mentioned earlier at the same time we acknowledge it as a practice that is unlawful for those that believe. The bible is clear on the issue, it doesn't skirt around that, God made them male and female and said a man should never lie with a man. It makes no sense that we cannot point out sin, how else can we learn what was the purpose of it all. People also confuse judging...........when you judge without mercy or arrogance then that is where the error comes in at, we have ever right to judge and make laws and rules based on beliefs, in the bible they loved but they also rightly divided right from wrong and this issue is wrong according to the book. We cannot condemn without looking at ourselves honestly, that is where our love and mercy comes from, this is how we can love those who and learn to work with one another while affirming our belief with the lord..........whew, see what DC has started!!! You are right at the end of the day it is just a toy forum, but this is good commentary on how sharply divided our country is on the issue. Everyone here is an adult ad we all are on one fence or the other. The divide showcases a very real and serious situation for our country, I personally am tired of the liberal agenda and nonsense, though ironically I can't stand the so-called conservative agenda either, it is very troubling times. Lastly, I think you have a lot of love in your heart, we may disagree on particulars but you made it very clear you care about hurting people and that is a very real purpose for those who follow the Lord, that is why I don't always agree with the "bible belt, conservatives"..........Jesus could be stern but he dealt with sinners in a loving and caring way, helping them and nuturing them..........and I see that in you.
  10. Jesus preached on this type of hyprocisy that you mentioned and it should be noted along with the idea that believers do find something wrong with that particular lifestyle. & that's fine. Believe as you like. That's what America is all about. Freedon to choose religion & freedom to be free from religion. I should not be held to the Biblical standards or YOUR ideology, nor should you mine. My getting married as a gay man does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to impact your marriage or any other heterosexual couple. In all the debates I'll ever been in I still have not gotten a quantifiable answer as to why & how gay marriage hurts straight people. Its is my opinion that DOMA has nothing to do with "protecting marriage". Gays getting married hurts no one. But what it does do is help curb all the distructive life style habbits that many in the LGBT community have as a side effect of being discriminated against. Marriage equality will curb, STDs. Correct me if I'm wrong but the loudest voice of gays spreading AIDS is the Bible belt.....no? Well being in a loveing committed relationship will decrease this spread right? I mean its not like (shall we say) a certain group of people in America WANT gays to die from AIDS.....right? Because that wouldn't be very Christian now would it. This whole effort to deny the LGBT community of our fair share (not special) of civil rights is simply because bigots hate not have the gay community to kick around any more. They already had all their...."minority play things" taken away. Not the world is all set to change AGAIN & take away their last bigot platform that they can be open about. So have your faith. But marriage is not a product of faith. It might take faith to keep it strong, but it is a very real thing on paper. A person's marriage can be produced upon request for what ever reason......can your God? My point exactly. Ahhhh, I have been waiting for someone to say that! See I have every right to project my beliefs on you just as you do me, that is what society does, it matters not the origin whether you came to the conclusion on your own or if you read it from a movement or if it is a religious one.........people project beliefs on others, if we didn't we would have one party and no fights in congress and no national division. We have the right to voice how we want out society shaped, we all have that ability, some will win, some will lose. Also marriage has always been a religious practice that is where it originates from. People shape the society we live in, down to the rulings on marriage, that is the way of life, not always will people agree and there are always reprocussions for certain actions. I think it is a farce and a delusion when people say for others not to project their religious beliefs on them, its unavoidable, religious or not.
  11. Horrible people are horrible people, in and out the church.............biblical stories deal with such accounts as well, as a matter of fact Jesus went head to head with people who claimed to know God and didn't. Horrible people will exploit any and everything, it doesn't define the religion. Just like if moron who ran a charity stole from it, doesn't invalidate the charity only his personal intergrity. Sorry to hear about the theft, death brings out the worst in people but at least you know them by who they are now.

  13. This stupid idea didn't work for Batwoman and it certainly won't work for an existing character. When stuff like this happens it just has the smug air of an agenda to it and it will not only go flat it will go sour completely. I know I won't be reading it just because of the change, I can't relate and I find it offensive. I personally can get along with anyone and have cousins who are gay but there is a fine line in how I can relate to them and I just can't on many levels. I love them and would do the same for them as any of my other cousins but they have a lifestyle that I find uncomfortable with have no desire because of religious beliefs to understand and support.
  14. Double BRAVO, I am so annoyed with whoever is running DC, right down into the ground!!! Pointless and full of agenda, they are suffering enough but then they go and make this move which will effectively alienate MOST if not ALL of their fan base.
