!
in regards to my last post I was saying that if the Cops had just beat the guy up, Everyone would be coming out screaming Police brutality, and "why didn't they just tazer him instead of beating him up?" Everyone would want to sue the police and say how bad they are because they beat up some unarmed guy. The tazers were made so Cops wouldn't have to fight people and risk getting hurt.
Second I never said that there weren't bad cops out there, but in this case they did what they were trained to do. You don't know what the original call was so you don't know why the cop approached the guy with his tazer out, ready to use. I read that the guy had just assaulted someone so the police were called. The guy was asked to do something and he didn't follow the orders of the officers, so Sorry Guy your going down on the ground. It's a safety issue.
As for my "Credentials", I'm a Sgt with a local police department here in michigan with over 15 years exeperience. I have had many run ins with combative people and I have lost friends who have had bad run ins with people. And again I express the main point here. The Officer did his job and went home at the end of the day to see his family.
For those of you who don't know, try looking up the Police Officers Force Continuum or ask an Officer. There are levels of Resistance that a person puts out and there is a level of control that Officers follow to deal with the resistance. It has been through courts and it is the main rule for dealing with people.
Here in Michigan alone it is a Felony just to tell an Officer "No" if that Officer tells you that you are under arrest. It is resisiting and Opposing an Officer and was created because we are tired of Losing Police Officer who are killed everyday by suspects.
There is a time and place for being all friendly and polite, but not when your are dealing with someone who may want to put you in the morgue.
I have seen bad decisions made by Officers and I would be the first to say that it was bad, but not here. No way.
