Darkhorse has been there for years for them and they will throw them to the side?

of coarse. disney has it's hand in just about every piggy bank, so why not bring the SW home to marvel? personally, DH has done a great job and all when (as you said) SW was all but forgotten. disney is just a money machine, they dont really care about loyalties or how great of a job DH has been doing. they just want to pad their own pockets. we'll see how well they do.

Haha, the best part of Disney buying Lucasfilm has been the ridiculous posts that it elicits from some fans. While yes, Disney is indeed out to make money, the idea that they should pay billions of dollars for the Star Wars license and then, instead of moving the SW comics publishing to Marvel which they own, continue to use an outside company like Dark Horse is ridiculous. Why would they do that? I LOVE Dark Horse, but they didn't have the SW license because they were BFFs with Lucasfilm , it's because they PAID for it.

And as far as doubting the quality of comics that haven't even been created yet, what would possibly lead any rational person to believe that Marvel can't produce good Star Wars comics? They have an incredibly deep talent pool and have a number of awesome books on the market now. Yes, they also produce some crap but so does Dark Horse.

Sorry but whether you like Disney or not, comments like these are dumber comic they could produce.

But IMO Marvel doesn't do very well with anything outside Marvel Superheroes comics. Sure Marvel can sustain the comics and I'm sure it will start out with some big name talent. But a year or two into it Marvel just won't care. Just look at how they have treated anything that was really outside the Superhero genre. They have comics based on Dexter and the Castle tv series, but you really would't know it. They took the Muppet rights away from Boom and did nothing with them. The courted Microsoft so that they could do HALO comics and that went no where (and they let the rights lapse and Dark Horse picked them up). They tried using some of there other properties (Cross Gen) and that went no where. The only real good thing they have done outside of Superhero comics are the Stephen King Dark Tower and The Stand comics, which they let fizzle after a couple years.

Now I'm not saying that Marvel won't handle SW well. I think that they will continue to publish four or so titles from 2015 until the end of time. And I realize that the examples I used probably all sold well at one point but sales tampered off and that's why they were stopped. But right now Marvel is so concerned with the bottom line that if a title isn't almost directly Avengers, X-men or Spidey related they don't care.

Right now the only Star Wars comic I'm reading is The Star Wars and with issue 5 coming out this last week something occurred to me that I hadn't thought about until now. With Marvel getting the license in 2015, at what point does Dark Horse stop producing SW comics? Do they keep on producing stuff right up until they have to hand of the right (so that they can keep that revenue stream open)? Do they stop a couple months before? Will Marvel jump right in there with Collections of some of the DH produced stuff to get some SW product out there (Like say a collections of The Star Wars)?

And these announcements do nothing for me. Sure I like most of the talent involved and wonder what artist and writers will be taking over at issues 5 or 6, but this will be the third time they have basically hit the reset button on "outside" the movies continuity (first being original Marvel comic series and second being Dark Horse). While I might read a trade if I see it at the library I really have no need of relearning about everything that happened between each movie again or seeing some characters new unknown origin. It's what made me give up on G.I.Joe comics (them rebooting everytime a new series comes out) and most Marvel books (they don't reboot, but boy do they play fast and loose with past history).

Y'know I was a little interested in maybe picking up the SW comics and I hadn't been into my local for a while. So I go in last saturday and picked up a couple things and was going to maybe try out the new SW comics, but all my shop had was the variants. I mean like ten plus copies of each variant starting at $10. So I didn't walk aout with any SW comics.
