  1. I have long waited for Hot Toys or other third-party companies to make Mera character who played by Amber Heard in the Aquaman Movie but regrettably I haven’t heard any announcement to this date. So I decided to customize my own 1/6 scale Mera figure by commissioning three local artists who are highly reputed for their works, each specializing in a specific area - head sculpt, painting, and rooted hair. For all I know, their quality is equivalent to or even precedes Hot Toys products and the likeness of female head sculpt is absolutely stunning. The only downside is that I had to wait for almost a year, 5 months for customized head and a year for Super Duck to release their Mera custom set of which outfit and accessories were used to complete the custom. Hope you, customizers out there, like what I have assembled and enjoy it. Stay safe and healthy.
  2. Actually this custom didn't require much effort except for the patience to wait till the customizers complete their work.
  3. No, the head was sculpted by Waruna Weligamage which is extremely rare to find, and the head paint and eyeglasses fabrication were commissioned to the customizers resided in S. Korea. Rest of the components were purchased and assembled by me. Hope this helps.
  4. Thanks. I couldn't leave Batfleck all by himself on the shelf.
  5. This is 1/6 scale Justice League Alfred Pennyworth custom figure.
  6. He looks like one of the I Borg characters from Star Trek Next Generation episode.
  7. Thanks. Frankly speaking, I don't have a proper tool or airbrush for applying paints to my custom figures since I only make one or two custom figures a year as a hobby. Although acrylic-style paints are recommended, I only use Tamiya spray cans on top of primer (Mr. Surface 1200 from Mr. Hobby) to avoid leaving brush mark. Once the paints are completely dried I use matt coating spray to cover up the pearl glossy affect. This is my secret.
  8. Thanks. Chances of making another classic version is low at this time. I might make one in a smaller scale by using different figure as a base.
  9. I moved this article to custom figure gallery.
  10. Today, I present you with The New 52 Doomsday custom figure. It was made from the same recipe, MS Avengers Hulk and Ultimate Hulk's casted head, as last Doomsday I made a year ago. For this custom, I invested most of the time in reconstructing his muscular anatomy. It was a painstaking work but once I got through the first layer of his raw skin texture, attaching the rest of bones and tusks followed without a hitch. Overall, this monstrous beast took me over a month to complete and I'm pleased how it came out. Any comments or criticisms are welcome.

  12. This is one of my recent custom figures, Ultimate Doomsday. After Mattel announced the cancellation of 2014 DCIE series that included 2 versions of Doomsday figure, I felt regret about not being able to see the long awaited figure released. Then just last week, I found out Mattel has decided to release only Containment Suit Doomsday in the next SDCC. Relinquishing a hope to see THE UNLEASHED VERSION, I decided to make my own doomsday that shares the same articulations and details to some degree with DCUC figures. The only base body that I could find compatible in terms of size and similar physical features was Marvel Select Avengers Hulk. Before I began putting things together, I had to research various images and old custom figures done by others as a reference. My ideal Doomsday is a combination of classical appearance with a slight touch of Injustice version, especially on his facial expression and tusks on both shoulders, which I find him more aggressive and vicious. I knew from the start there would be a lot of time consuming labors required for sculpting and refining, but I finally got all done in a month. As a result, it turned out better than I expected. Here are the recipes: Head: Marvel Select Ultimate Hulk [cut his jaw in half and reconstructed to plant the teeth] Body: Marvel Select Avengers Hulk [shaved off big & little toes (Ouch!) to make his boots looking more slender in front] Waist band: old neon bracelet found in fodder box Head to toes including tusks and spikes all sculpted with Aves Apoxie Sculpt. Hope you guys like it. Any comments and criticisms are welcome.
  13. I present you with a Green Beetle from Young Justice TV animated series. Ibelieve this Green Beetle is the first of its kind for a figure and I'mdelighted to share with you. I have been working on this one for over two and ahalf months from time to time and just completed last weekend. GreenBeetle (real name B'arzz O'oomm) is a Green Martian, and displays the distinctphysical traits common to his species through his armor, including an extremelynarrow waist, wide pelvic bones, taloned feet, elongated arms that hang belowhis knees and three-fingered hands with tapering digits. Takingthese facts into consideration, I used Mattel Avatar, Jake Sully action figureas a base which seemed to meet the description of narrow waist with slenderbody. Since Jake's arms were not long enough, I had to extend them with ToybizX-Men series, Ultimate Night Crawler's forearms, hands, and feet that perfectlysatisfy Green Beetle's physical features. Hope you guys like the result. Any commentsand criticisms are welcome. Checkout the formula/recipe below: Head:DC Universe Classics Blue Beetle Body:Avatar Jake Sully with sculpted armor parts Lowerarms: Toybiz X-Men series, Ultimate Night Crawler Lowerlegs: DC Universe Classics Blue Beetle Hands& Feets: Toybiz X-Men series, Ultimate Night Crawler Scarab'shorns: Stag beetle toy found in fodder box Everythingelse is sculpted with Apoxie Sculpt.
