No MOTU 200X Style Figures In The MOTUC Line

I'm glad to hear this. We've had the other styles and they're still out there if you want them so why remake them. There's too much of that kind of thing going on. Finally this is something fresh. Since the original line came out, yep way back in the 80's, I've wanted classic style sculpts that captured a decent likeness of the cartoon series. For me this is the dream line of MOTU.

Yeah, I'm with Mattel on this one. Keep the MOTUC line "Classic" feeling. I'm sure there's a ton of people who want the 200X stuff with good articulation. I'd probably even end up buying some of them myself. But I would want them as seperate lines. I actually hope that they do get around to doing that one day.

Definitely agree on this one. By keeping it close to the 80's line we'll probably see most of our favorites from that line sooner and plus avoid having too many multiple variations of He-man and Skeletor just like the 200X line has, granted I won't mind the Battle Armor variations of those 2.

Honestly I really don't care as long as this line continues to exist. A lot of the other lines I'm interested are currently stuck in movie limbo (*coughs* Hasblo!). So there's really nothing to fall back on to collect or really to look forward to. Unless its a super expensive 12" figure that costs hundred of dollars from Hot Toys. :P

I'm just happy for that. Before I got a little frustrated with all the villains being released but you have to take the good with the bad. Just like with DCUC!

Most people continue to criticize the hell out of Mattel and while some of it might be justified, they have to realize DCUC and MOTUC are small revenue streams in comparison to the main product they sell. So obviously it will take a second class status compared to their main cash cow which is Barbie dolls.

If we continue to get elements in this line like the "secret accessories" then I get even more reason to buy them. Man-At-Arms coming with the 200x Power Sword was a TITS idea! I think Tri-Clops comes with a Doom Seeker and that ring. They're doing far too well with this line for this news to even make any difference.

If nothing else it'll finally shut people up about it. So what if you have an entire collection of the 200x figures? I have them all and I don't care. This line is new, fresh, and better.

My sentiments exactly. As much as I loved the re-imaging 200X line, that particular line has ran its course

and I'm surprise that years after its cancelation that fans still continue to press this issue. This finally puts

it to rest. I'm all for incorporating 200X elements and different characters, but I'm not trying to re-collect

an entire new line of a defunct line. This is fresh take on a classic, keep it as such.

Excuse me, but how did anyone think we were gonna get 200x figures in this line? I thought it was clear from the beginning that the most we'd get were 200X elements done in the classics style.

Lots of Orgers are surprised at this....i'm taking this as something we already knew.

I am fine with this with two exceptions: Trap Jaw and Beast Man. The MYP Trap Jaw's arm was better IMO than the original. I would want them at the very least to have a separate arm where it mirrors the MYP version. Second, Beast Man from the MYP line looked about the right size for his character. The Classics one is just too small for a beastial character. This announcement makes me wonder but not as worried about the possibility of a Keldor figure. All i want is just a Keldor head on Skelly's body. Others I do not see a problem with. Are these in the realm of possibility or am I gonna get a "NO, its the end of MYP now STFU" from every one?

I'm fine with the Beastman figure we got now. A MYP of both really wouldn't mesh well imo, not to mention Beastman from the original

toon wasn't a overly huge guy anyways. I surmise that they will make sure Trap-Jaws arm mesh with the overall aesthetics of the other

figures while still paying attention to detail, especially since his arm has so much notoriety and If they do Keldor he will logically resemble a

Classic Skeletor, I'm sure they will also alter the harness throw in a cape and even throw in some boots, so Keldor wouldn't be an issue.

This wasn't news to me, either.

In fact, I think Toyguru has already said all this stuff in the past. It's always been understood that they wouldn't be changing the sculpting style; all the figures would be "chunky" like the originals.

The Horsemen are doing a great job of incorporating the various lines and inspirations into one so far. I think they'll continue to do so with guys like Trap Jaw.

Eh, I don't care about the styling as long as they start making more unique figures. Teela is a step in the right direction, but we need guys like Kobra Khan and the Snakemen, Roboto, Leech and the rest of the Horde, Ram-Man, Buzz-Off, Man-E-Faces, etc.

Until we start getting figures like that, this line will continue to pale in comparison to both the original line and the 200X line.

Well I think that is the objective, to eventually get to those figures. Its not a question of if, but when

which means by the close of 09 and throughout 2010 we will start to see more unique figures/characters. It

certainly won't pale by the end of 2010 in comparison to the 200X line. that much is certain.

I hope you're right. I'm just kind of worried by a statement from Toy Fair that said something like, "MOTUC works for Mattel because they can reuse parts, so you won't see characters like Modulok." Which seems to imply we also won't see characters like the ones I named, not to mention guys like Whiplash, Two-Bad, Mekaneck, and Syclone. So if all of those characters are off the table, then I don't think this line will ever be on par with the 200X line.

But I'll definitely be happy if Mattel proves me wrong. And if they can somehow make a King Hiss figure that doesn't suck, they'll have my undying loyalty. :)

Well this may ease your concerns, I got this info from He-Man.org, answers from Toyguru :)

6. Since we were recently told that characters requiring more unique sculpting (such as Ram-Man, King Hiss or Two-Bad) will only happen if MOTUC is sold in retail stores, does this mean MOTUC will be moving to retail stores soon? If not, has Mattel considered offering those figures at a higher price in order to make them happen?

Do to the huge success MOTUC has become, we have been able to allocate more tooling for the line and will now look at adding more highly tooled figures in the future. We would like to see the line make it to retail, but it will not depend on a retail release for these characters. Teela and Battlecat are both 100% tools.

So we pretty much have only touched the surface. If the line is a continued success then I have no doubt we shall see the

ones you mentioned, especially if we're getting Battle Cat so early in the game.
