Calm down feat...after all the article does say she has a minor role. And yes, it's just awful to know there will be yet another one of those loathsome "pretty, young" women in this film... @smilepunch@

They've been casting pretty young people since the dawn of film making....

Still looks like "Jim Henson's New Hope Babies" to me. Quite a line between the new and the golden oldies(original crew), not to mention the ancient (Max Von Sydow).

If they don't have the years, Id at least like to be able to see some mileage...lines on the face, "old" eyes, etc.

Okay...I will concede that Adam Driver might not fit the "pretty" category:

Talent aside, I'd place money that his "unique" looks puts him in the "bad guy" category. That'sa Hollywood, right?

Young...good. We all know kids don't play with toys that aren't feasibly close to their own age and experiences. Reminder: no fatties. No one like fatties, unless we need a villain. But we can't make it seem that just being fat makes them vile, he/she has to be "oozing" vile...plus points for going literal. Also, what are we missing on the "equality" wheel? Plenty of women now...color spectrum is going good: doubled the number of featured blacks, and Chong is ethnic enough to fool the Chinese market. Do we have an Indian person still needing to be cast? Can he/she be gay? Can there be a homosexual relationship in Star Wars?

I joke, but you'd be ignorant to think that this line of thinking doesn't exist within the machine, spoken or unspoken. It's fine, as long as the finished product doesn't smack of effort. Anyone else watch new Doctor Who? Id use that as an example of what not to do, but im afraid it would be lost in here.

Oh, I have no doubt what you're saying is true...with a merchandising juggernaut like Star Wars, it has to hit on all cylinders when it comes to demographics, now moreso than ever since Disney's in control. I'm sure there have been some corporate level meetings on the matter. Star Wars is the commercial, big studio, tent-pole franchise that George Lucas himself loathed as a young film-maker, ironically enough, and there's no stopping it. That's not to say I won't blindlessly and excitedly fork over my money for the films, toys, etc., because I will. I'm still a fan, a die-hard one at that, but the truth's the truth...

And yes feat, your Doctor Who analogy would have been lost on me...I'm a forty-year-old sci-fi nerd, and I have yet to see my first episode. Blasphemous, isn't it? (lol)

Wow...I mean, I love nods to the classic looks but...I was really expecting something much different and more original. No matter, I'm still getting more and more excited about this every day.
